Agroforestry

Sampark’s work with the Bhil community harmonizes sustainable agriculture with biodiversity conservation. As deforestation has pushed many Bhils towards agriculture, Sampark promotes agroforestry, enriching soil, retaining water, and boosting crop yields by thoughtfully integrating trees into farmland. This approach respects the Bhils’ bond with the land, fostering both economic resilience and environmental stewardship.

Moreover, Sampark promotes traditional farming practices as a safeguard against exploitative market forces. In partnership with Lok Jagriti Manch and Beej Swaraj Abhiyan, Sampark led a successful campaign against genetically modified seeds, notably preventing BT Brinjal’s introduction. Through rallies, yatras, and community-driven workshops, they inspired widespread action to protect Indigenous seeds and sustain biodiversity. Sampark’s enduring commitment—through training, educational materials, and advocacy—has empowered the Bhil community and mobilized collective efforts across Madhya Pradesh, encouraging both villagers and government bodies to protect and celebrate the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
